heading up to tray mountain this weds. 8-27
« on: August 24, 2014, 04:44:08 PM »
I am trying to get someone to help me and my son get our feet wet properly (and legally). We should be up at Helen before noon. Anyone is welcome to show us around on a few easy trails. I have a 2 door sport (2.5 BB lift) and he has a 4 door unlimited (stock). We would appreciate any and all help provided. Is it ok that we do not have a Jack yet? see ya on the trails !!!

I would have loved to go but I have work. When I went there I was a bit disappointed in the trail. Then again I wasn't sure what to expect. I went with my son and a friend. None of us have been there before. I was able to find 2 sections that had something better than a flat road. the first was a wicked mud hole that was over 12-18 inches of muck, We skipped this and the other was a small hill with some ruts. we hit that a couple of times. By the time we hit an intersection with a dried up mud hole we had to leave fast to get to work. I know I missed a lot of areas but can someone please tell me where I can find a trail that is around 1.5 - 2.5 on the scale, so I can sorta test my vehicle and skills out. //letseat// //:hlp//

It's closed till march, but Beasly knob in blairsville.
Charlie's creek isn't hard ( more challenging than trey) but it is a nice, fun trail, bell mountain is short, but you could get stuck for sure if you take the wrong trail and its wet.  All of those you can do in one day ( not Beasly knob)

I haven't been there, but Durahmtown is a park ( Murphy NC  area)
Beasly is a park also .

GATRfest is in Gulches ( nit sure ofvtown name)South Carolina the weekend of the 10th of oct. good place to start.  I'm gonna go and I'm in a full size long bed truck.

Just curious, did you find the big mud puddle first ? (Flat open area). And did you find an overlook at the peak of the mountain? Huge rock wall that you can climb on top of.  Last, if you found those two first you went backwards.  You should have found the " uphill rock garden first) not "hard". But fun

Tray Mountain would be challenging in my Honda Accord (sorry had to say it)

I will check these out next time I have more time. Thanks

The area I found was just a strip of mud approximately 25 feet long. The dried up mud hole was at an intersection. I never saw a lookout point or rock area. Once we hit the big flat cleared intersection we had to leave.
