What kind of brakes should I run with my 37s
« on: October 13, 2014, 01:49:57 PM »
I currently have the stock brakes and pads on 37s. To say the least I have very little power when it comes to breaking. I need to upgrade in the near future. Im not looking to spend over 1200 dollars.

Ive seen two so far that look good. Has anyone run either of them, if not im open to any suggestions.

Couple things I picked up from my autox/road racing days.
Cross drilled and slotted rotors are to help with off gassing from brake pads.
Stay away from crossed drilled rotors unless you like rotors that crack very fast.
Slotted rotors are a better then crossed drilled rotors about not cracking.
Both types will eat pads at a slightly higher rate than regular rotors.
You need quality rotors! Don't buy cheap crap.
You can prevent the need for crossed drilled or slotted rotors by buying performance brake pads. Hawk, EBC, Black magic, Carbotech. There are other brands but you get the point.
Last but not least buy brake fluid with a much higher boiling point than normal. Your brake system is a couple pieces of metal using friction (that produces HEAT) to stop your automobile.
Maintenance, Maintenance, Maintenance.

Could you pm me a link to some high boiling point brake fluid and the pads you think will do the best. Thanks

The black magic pads have a very specific break in activity...follow it precisely, if you get them.

I will have to do some research on the brake fluid and check out some of the brake compounds from the different pad companies.
