Beadlocks on a DD?
« on: November 11, 2014, 11:03:19 PM »
Im considering getting atx slab beadlocks and running them on my DD. I have heard some bad things and good things about having them on a daily driver and want to hear your opinions. Thanks  //cheers2//

Read up on two part wheels and the law, but I would have no problem doing it.  They do need to be maintained, so be prepared for that and buy a good torque wrench.

What "good things" have you heard about having beadlocks on a daily driver?

Have you considered internal beadlocks?

I would trust them, and I race with them.

I have DD them for over 2 years, no real positives or negatives on the road for me other than some normal tire shops won't touch them. Just like running a normal wheel to me

Been running a set for three months now. No problems at all on the road. AWESOME off road! As said before the biggest problem is that a normal tire shop will not toutch them. If your paying for tire balancing and installation bring the big wallet, it's gonna cost. If you can DIY you'll be fine. Just find a shop that will balance them for you.

I've ran other deadlocks on my somewhat DDs for years.  Those wheels I ran were supposedly DOT compliant, but that compliancy is a bit of a joke, JMHO.  If the wheels were designed from day one as a beadlock good, IMHO.  If modified to be a beadlock, then that is where I think issues can come from, depending on who modified them.

I would have no issues with it.

I ran true bead locks on mine...  No problems what so ever...  I did check bolts at every oil change...  Ditto on what other said about tire shops touching them...  They won't, so hopefully you are close to the shop that installs them...  Or you never plan on rotating and balancing them...
