Ha!  Thanks.  I read that some early 76's hav stock Dana 44's.  304 puts out maybe 150 hp.  I think 4;26 gears or something like that

If the axle is stock it is a 44. If it had a 20 it would look similar to the front but without the locking hubs.
I would pass.  Look for a  CJ -7 or Wrangler. Not much more room but every little bit counts.
