So I am tired of always being hung up on obstacles due to my low hanging smittybilt steps. My friend took off his rubi rails and gave them to me. My smittybilty sliders bolt on to the frame but the rubi rails bolt on to the body. If i were to ever land on a rock on the rubi rails would that bend in the body?

Would you leave the smittybilt ones on until you got the funds to do frame mounted or is body mount good as well? I would be looking into the weld on kit for the rubi rails too

Also does anyone know if rubi rails fit with ps body armor? I would easily check myself but my jeep is too busy in the shop without me  //:'(//

I had a this exact problem a while back with my rr sliders. I switched over to the rubi sliders as a temp solution until I figured out which ones I'd get. I've slammed mine with all of the weight of the jeep on them without any issues. You will be even more protected since you have the ps armor if they fit together.

Rubi sliders are tough

You can bend the tub w the Rubi sliders but it takes a heck of a hit.

They should work w the PS skins.

I bent the tub on my 97 with a set of smittybilt steps/sliders like what you have, it was a hard hit.

I bent mine with river raider sliders.  I guess they all can bend on a 6000# rig.

I'm glad I welded on em and gave em a new coat of paint! I guess I better have a renaming ceremony and wash em with some libations!  //cheers2//

Seriously, though I cut mine back about 1-1/4" on the rear, because they stuck out slightly more than the body at the wheel well. When doing so I realized that the wall thickness on these is 3/16+ along with the profile makes em really strong. I also ran a bead where the mount joins the slider. I have seen a mod where tabs are welded to the sliders to mount where the tub mounts the frame, using 1/4" x 2" flat. Seems like overkill.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be trimming the rear some. And I'll go ahead and put an extra bead on the tabs. That's a great idea.

Also I was considering doing the weld on kit that adds the steps on the side of the rubi rails. Has anyone seen those? I think JCR off road makes the kit.
