Jumpstarters? Recommendations?
« on: September 27, 2016, 02:56:40 PM »
Does anyone have or use a jumpstarter?
I need a battery for my CPAP for camping. I have a DC power cord on order.

My options are purchasing a jumpstarter (because they seem to offer better recharging solutions)
or getting a Deep Cycle Marine Battery and another Charger.

Either way I will be able to get several nights of usage before a recharge.

I have had several Marine batteries used mainly for trolling motors. I am more comfortable with a Marine Battery but the jumpstarters seem to offer more versatility.

The CPAP batteries cost almost as much as a new CPAP (roughly the cost of 4 or 5 Marine Batteries)

Any recommendations?

I have one of these, but the battery is purchased separately.  I haven't used it much.  http://m.northerntool.com/products/shop~tools~product_200422353_200422353?hotline=false

The good news is that at most parks we have access to a.c. power (charge during the day, or pull a.c. to the CPAP machine), and if not, a few of us carry a generator that you could tap into..just bring an extension cord.

Call AAA if you want a bad ass jump box, call  and ask them what their drivers have.

I had a AAA guy come out and jump off my dual battery Duramax and the jump box he used worked amazingly. I had a regular truck try to jump me and it wouldn't go. The truck was a Ford, that may or may not have been an issue.

I'll check with AAA there's actually a AAA tow contractor that has offices right across the street from my office.

Probably really expensive but it's powerful.

Those lithium batteries love to explode...  I had purchased one of those type of devices on Amazon...DOA, and the day I received it there was an announced recall.

I ended up buying a 12-35 AH AGM Battery with the 5 amp draw off the Cpap. Batteries Plus has some really good deals on batteries  and if you purchase online and pick up in the store its 10% off. I should be able to get several days usage before a recharge is needed. The Jumpstarter idea does offer some advantages but is not really suited to this application.
