You can keep that thing for $230.  I have an RTIC 22qt that I paid $124 for, and I'm not convince any of these "premium" coolers work that much better.

Looking to go with a bigger model rtic or pelican

I have been thoroughly satisfied with my hard and soft RTIC's.  Top of the line stuff for really good prices.

The RTIC keeps ice a long time, but not sure the extra time is worth the extra money and the empty weight of the cooler.  :)
Your statements seem at odds.

Regardless, I can tell you the Pelican 35 and the Yukon 70 hold ice longer than the Coleman extremes I have, by a couple of days in mid 90s highs.  I agree; I'm not convinced they're worth the cost and weight just for holding ice, but they do have locking lids for a rollover event, and they can be safely strapped down, too.  It comes down to intended purposes and goals.  I love the Coleman extremes for their size, weight, and wheels...a great balance for a large cooler.

I agree with you.  It depends on the intended purpose.  If I was going to be in Moab for days and days, I'd definitely have a premium cooler.  You can prevent losing the contents by no flipping over :)

The Yeti/RTIC/ETC are a lot of cooler to haul around for day trips though.

At least if you do flip over, you can have a cold beer afterwards!

That's exactly what I do. Soft rtic for jeep to keep drinks and lunch, large yeti for weekend trips to keep dinner, beer, etc.

Love our Pelican. first one had a leak around the drain, no questions asked sent us a brand new one. We use ice packs more often than ice and it keeps for days and days. I think they are just like anything else, you get what you pay for more often than not.

I pre chill whatever is going in the cooler and that's it.

My drinks and food are cold before I put them in and yes I check torque on hinge bolts before leaving.
