I wouldn't think that they would help reduce any weight for the axles or tires, just suspension. Does it?

it puts a lot of weight on the rear axle/tires.

I'm not sure that trailer puts anymore weight on the truck than the long double car trailer does with 1 rig in front of the trailer axles and 1 rig over them.

all bags would help is the suspension and sway control, you really gotta watch overloading the rear axle bearings on a single rear wheel tow pig.. thats not something you wanna have to repair between here and Moab.. on the highway..

I was concerned about bearings and tires.  Some contend the airbags put more pressure on the front tires, so you can steer; I haven't been convinced that's what they do.  I think they just help level it and take some of the bounce out of the ride (shock absorber).

My research and discussion w others is that air bags do as you say...level out the rear but do not distribute any weight to the front.
