I almost pulled the trigger on one. I talked to Davey about it. I believe it is hard/impossible to get full coverage on a salvage title vehicle. Other than that I don't know of any caveats.

Once inspected it becomes a rebuilt title. Rebuilt titles are a lot easier.

We call a guy out to the shop to do this. He does a full inspection and verifies the vehicle is in perfect condition. After he signs off on it you apply for the title. Then you can get full coverage or whatever you want.
The inspection takes about an hours and title will be at your door in 2-3 weeks from mailing date.

I didn't go through with it but did all my homework and my father in law did. He had a jeep that was part of a house fire. The jeep was never touched by the fire but it was salvaged out. He had it for a few years.

It needs to be towed to an inspection station or at the time they could come to your house. It needs to function like a normal rig. Blinkers, brakes, light... all safety stuff you know. Now I read it was suppose to be stock. Now how modified you can get away with, not sure. Point could be made that it was modified to begin with. I think its more about road worthy and safety.

It has to be inspected in the same condition as jeep would have sold it off the lot in its model year. That's how the law reads, but I argued that lots are sold with lifts/wheels/tires/soft tops but the inspector could never give me a clear answer, only that we would have to do the inspection and see what the state allowed. Pre-modified salvage jeeps are super tricky, especially where most of you guys have to also pass emissions.
