What is the tow rating on the LJ compared to a TJ? Only difference between the too is wheelbase so can't be that much more.


definately not the only difference. No 1 is no LJ ever was sold with anything smaller than a d44 rear axle, and im not 100%, but im pretty sure the highest gear available was 3.73.

Stability of a short wheelbase versus a longer wheelbase probably plays into the rating.  The ASE j standard (I can't remember the specific number) will tell you what they consider now when doing tow rating, if the companies follow the standard.

Yup. Forgot about the rear axle. I guess Jeep got smart when they quit putting the 35's in.

Some even came without a front "driven" axle. Aka 2wd.

D35 makes no sense as they have different wms, brackets,etc so they couldn't use left overs but maybe they built them for the 2wd
