What makes ANY snap on tool cost what they do? My buddy owns his own repair shop here and the guy always comes by trying to pander his crap to him. Sorry buddy you are way overpriced.
I've grown tired of this.

Snap on //drool//

but this is the truth

There is a guy at the Carriage Nissan in Gainesville with a setup almost identical to that, but his kids are grown.

Mechanics get 3 things from SnapOn:

1)  Truck comes around regularly and has what is needed

2) All tools are guaranteed and are replaced free if broke

3) They can buy on credit and pay off monthly

High end tools are usually more refined than store bought stuff.  It's the little things, such as more teeth on a ratchet, smoother ratcheting action, better grips, perfect size for the job, and sometimes the correct tool for the job.

I own store bought stuff.

This. Every play with a snap on ratchet? No comparison. I don't have one but have used them. I would like a few select snap on stuff.

The bigger one I would suggest. Over time you will acquire more tools and run out of space. I need more dividers for the wrenches.

I have 50 pounds in a 10 sack in the garage. Plan to build a work bench with a big box inside of it using angle iron. The U.S. general tool boxes are really nice from harbor freight. Better than the sears, home depot, and lowes stuff.  When the car is done it will be a little more organized.

What is better about the harbor fright versus those others you mentioned?

Exactly.  I still have a few SnapOn, Mac, and Matco tools from when I turned wrenches for a living a million years ago.  I bought a HF fine tooth short 3/8" ratchet and love it.  After using it to install my Metal Cloak armor, the forward/reverse level fell out of it.

Ignore Don.

They seem to be better constructed. Draws roll real smooth. A lot of positive feedback floating around on them. Heavier construction.

I played with all of them but if I had $1k to spend instead of $500 I would have bought the HF box.
