Won't you get a lot more chunks of coal falling with that open design? I've seen one that is better than the original but not that open.

I looked at the Kick Ash Basket. The ash still falls to the bottom of the Egg, right? With the grate I posted, I simply stir the coals to shake the ash free. Seems like the same result as KAB for $20 instead of $75...

Almost, but clean up is a lot easier. Instead of stirring, take it out gently and shake over trash can or wherever. Then it's easy to shop vac from the top if you want.
