GATR's Everywhere - Buford Dam
« on: June 01, 2008, 09:34:23 AM »
I pulled down to the bottom of Buford Dam yesterday and noticed a sweet lookin' white TJ that I thought looked familiar and on further inspection it had GATR stickers all over it.  I looked around for you Matt (not too hard as my 5 month old was getting cranky).  It was a perfect day to be fishing, hiking, kayaking, or anything outside.

By the way, is there anyway to get 2 of the little oval GATR stickers?  Those would fit perfect between the fender and door of the taco!

That was me. Were you in the taco? I didnt see ya. But there was another jeep there and lots of kayaking. Me and the wife were taking a walk, she wanted to see where the water came out of the damn. It was a beautiful day. We got some new ovals stickers.

Its all in the planning  ;) I've been clean all day today, haha. I went to a wedding last night, didn't know anyone there (other than my girlfriend) and didn't even have to get out of my seat to get beers from the bar, so I think I had enough for the weekend.....

We were in the mom mobile (black Trailblazer EXT LTZ).  We were going to walk around but the baby started acting like a baby. LOL

I have never kayaked before but I REALLY want to give it a try.  The padal shop near my house rents kayaks and lessons so I have been thinking about taking some lessons (or just renting one and giving it a try).

You kayak much?

I've tubed from the dam down to the bridge at the Trout Farm.  It was pretty cool.  We have been taking our kayaks out a lot on lakes and ponds and the local parks around Gwinnett and Winder.  I think our next trip will be from the dam down to a good take out spot.  The river was pretty calm the whole way to the Trout Farm but i'm not real sure about after that.

I have heard that there is some good places to go kayaking in N. GA but the only reason I have not purchased a kayak yet is none of my buddies have any interest in kayaking and you need two vehicles, one to take the kayaks to the launch point and one to leave at the exit point.
