Is that the one they poured concrete in? Overall do you think the rubicon by itself is worth the trip from Georgia?

I couldn’t tell that concrete was poured in but maybe. It had a bunch of smaller boulders that had been added to fill in between the big rocks.

The Rubicon trail was worth the trip from GA in my opinion.  If I go back I will spend 3 days/2 nights on the trail instead of the 2 days/1 night we did. It felt rushed on the trail for 2 days. The trail is not hard but there are optional obstacles and beautiful camping that I would have liked to have had more time to enjoy. Some things I would like to run both directions. We did the Old Sluice downhill but it would be fun and challenging to turn around and do it uphill (there is a bypass that you can use to not have to go on it in the same direction twice).

Here are the few pics from Old Sluice. I had to do a lot of spotting here so didn’t get many pics. The Old Sluice is a really fun section. It reminds me of some of my favorite really rocky sections of AOP...dry of course.

Awesome pics Scott. You guys still hitting foredyce? I heard ,can’t remember where it was from though, that they went through and blew up a bunch of the bigger rocks to fill in the little sluice. I don’t know how true it is.

We did Fordyce. We only spent one day though and it deserves two. I’ll get the Fordyce pics up when I have time.

They were doing work at the loon lake dam and using helos to sling load there tools and equipment in and out.

There were also helicopters bringing in supplies for the upcoming Jamboree the weekend after we left.

Looks like a great trip!  I was at Lake Tahoe with my wife for an anniversary trip this weekend, close by you all. For some reason the wife failed to share my enthusiasm for the Rubicon being so close by. We did a lot of hiking and she got to hear all about what a dream all the dry rock would’ve been to wheel. Glad you got to experience it!
