1911 Talk

How many here own a 1911?

IMO, it is the purest of all firearms in existence along side a Colt or Smith revolver.  I have a Springfield Loaded model that is by far my favorite.  It's my go to carry during the colder months when it can be concealed better.

I have a little work done on it by John Harrison in Kennesaw.  If you're not familiar with John, he is one of the best 1911 gunsmiths in the country.  I say that because when I bought my Springfield years ago, I wanted some work done and went out to 1911.com and asked who was good (typical newb question).  The responses were overwhelming and people were surprised that I didn't know I had the top guy a few miles away from me.  Check him out and look at his gallery for some serious 1911 porn.  http://harrisoncustom.com/

I own a Kimber 1911 CDP and love it. Not my daily carry because you just can’t beat a Glock for reliability when it really matters.

I have a kimber custom II for a few years now. When I compare my 1911 to my HK usp 45, 1" barrel difference, they shoot really different.

Been eye balling the wilson combat EDC x9l.

When breaking down a 1911, I seem to forget about spring tension which gets some flight time.

The EDC X9L is a sweet piece, I'd have a hard time spending that much though.  I'd love to own a Wilson Combat 1911 .45.  Maybe if I win the lotto.

Lots of spring pressure and awkward takedown procedures for sure. I’m always scared to scratch the slide on such an expensive handgun. So fun to shoot though because it’s so accurate. Spent a couple of weeks out West in the desert shooting the 1911 tore up my hands but well worth it.

It's a great platform.  I had a Kimber Eclipse that I sold before I moved to GA.  It was a great shooter.  I almost pulled the trigger on a STI Trojan a couple years ago and still want one but I know it would just mostly sit in the safe.
