Windrock - September 6
« on: September 09, 2020, 11:52:07 AM »
Had an absolute blast in Tennessee this Labor Day weekend. Wish I would have set aside more than one day to hit Windrock. I guess the magnitude of 73,000 acres didn't quite register with my little pea brain. I realize now that trying to plan anything on either end of the park during the same day is not a great plan. Looking at the map, we thought we would just "hop over" from 16 to 51 to go check out Panther Rock via the gravel roads.... 2 hrs later we were there. Holy guacamole this place is huge.

No carnage to report besides the usual rock rash. The other JLU Rubicon that was with us go some trash in between the bead and wheel and wouldn't hold air so we just slapped the spare on there. He's getting fresh turs this week so Discount Tire gets to handle that fix for him.

The next time I go to Windrock I'd like to have three solid days to take it slow and see more of the place. We got a good deal on a cabin right on the Tellico River. We floated a small portion of it. It wasn't too close to Windrock but it was a nice spot. All in all, a good weekend.  [beer]

Boggs Creek

Anybody know what kind of fish this is? Best I could find is it might be a stone roller? It has fat lips like it would eat algae. It went after a pretty big rooster tail.

They quit stocking at Tellico. Fishing will be slim pickins until next year. Grew up going there with my dad when we were young. Nothing like it.

That is some of Windrock's downfall is that the good trails are so far from each other. Love going there though.

Awesome pics!

I've always heard them called "horny head's" No clue the actual name though.
