Show me your GMRS setup
« on: January 07, 2022, 08:04:50 AM »
I found a few threads but nothing on a setup picture that I could find. Trying to decide b/w Midlands or Wouxun and the YT reviews are not helping - they are mostly paid content from one company vs another. So wondering what set up members here are running and how are you mounting it in your rig

I've got a few of the Baofeng UV-5R+ handhelds. I keep one in the truck and one in the jeep at all times. In the Jeep I also have a hard mounted Btech UV-25x2. I chose this unit due to its small size and where I wanted to mount it. Its been great. SEVERAL others here use this same radio.

Are these easier to change frequencies than the hand held ones?

Mine are all easy since I programmed in the channels I wanted  ;) ;) ;)

Pretty sure Midland (like Rugged) doesn't give you the 1/2 watt channels (GATR 8-14 IIRC). I bought a rugged on black friday and ended up returning it because they told me they couldn't enable those channels.

Baofeng/BTech and TTY have all of the channels
