Jan 15 Forest Service Road Ride
« on: January 17, 2022, 08:07:55 PM »
First off, I want to thank everyone that showed up. We had a good turn out of about 30-35 vehicles and still had half that stayed to the end.

My daughters and I enjoyed meeting a lot of new people, and are honored that each and everyone of you trusted us to not get lost with the weather coming in.

I would like to implore all of the "new" people to read through the past rides from the last year. There are picture, carnage, discussion threads that will give you an idea of what a "normal" club ride looks like.

Also please look at this thread, http://www.gatrailriders.com/GTRForums/index.php?topic=11735.0
as it will give you insight into the mind set we should all have.

I don't want to discourage anyone, as this is a sport that is closer to my heart than any other hobby I have. It's refueled a relationship with my oldest child, and I'm starting to see the light in my youngest eyes.

Its expensive, requires time, patience, and as someone told me when I first started, a little bit of masochism.

But for me it's always been worth it all.

Thanks for putting the ride together, enjoyed it, sorry I had to bail half way through.  What time did y’all finish?

It was such a success....
Thanks @classified for the route and leading. Good job at the drivers meeting also. As mentioned before we need to incorporate more of these and possibly make it an overland weekend trip......

Start thinking of some ideas

Thank you and Tony for helping keep up with the group, made my job so much easier.

Id like to do an overlanding trip  that still has some wheeling involved. Not necessarily hell's revenge everyday, but at least a reason to use 4wd. Maybe like an ultimate adventure where only a couple people know the route and everyone else is along for the ride. Probably with a little easier wheeling.

Coppinger cove.  Camp overnight .  Need someone that knows the area, or you will get lost

First we need to do a daytrip or 2 with a river crossing and a spot where you
have to use 4 wheel drive....maybe Beasley Knob. Then plan an overnight
overland trip. We need to find the fine line between forest road and the off
road parks. Once we achieve this > then the newer crowd will want more
and then maybe they will try an off road park.
