Dont worry Ben, we will have our fun in 2010. My friend from Yellowstone is home for the next month and I am going to talk to him more about his travels, lodging and see if he wants to come to Tellico with me. His worn out TJ probably wont come but he might.
One day boys!!! 2010!!!!!!!!

You're not going without me then either.

I've grown tired of this.

I'm due a new truck, have 157,000 on the Tahoe, but it looks, drives, and feels as good as new.  Can't complain, and if you haven't heard, the economy is bad and my consumer confidence is low.   ;)   If you take care of them they can last a long time for you, but have you seen the deals on diesel trucks these days?  I want a 4 door diesel truck that will tow a big trailer, but I would need to research it, I'm not up on the specs, but Dodges w/ sticker of $45,000 are 1/2 price at $22,500!   Crazy!  My "buddy" Pat just sold his 5th wheel 3 rig trailer, and I was hoping to borrow it for Moab.  I'm going to talk to my cousin and see if he has a truck and trailer I can borrow.

It would be awesome to get out west and wheel. Where do you guys plan on going? If it's the Rubicon I want in on it if we are going all the way through

Let's rent a semi from Ryder to haul the rigs, I'll drive it

yeah Ben and I have been discussing a Rubicon trip for 2010. Sometime around Mid June, early July. Figure 3 days on the trail, an overnight trip or 2 day in Yellowstone in Wyoming (if my friend still works there by then). Guess I need to get off my cheap ass and get that lift, and then some 35's before the trip. Bye mpg  ;D

Hey Steven,  I'm planning on Moab for Easter.  The truck idea would be great if you have a "Class "AA".  Do ya? I'm not sure how we would load and unload them as I think we can rent a flatbed, but can't rent a car carrier.

I have class AM

We can make some ramps to load/unload with

We may as well get a tractor with a sleeper, they have bunkbeds in there and its a lot more room than you think. Maybe even a TV/refrig/microwave

This is all thoughts at this moment... but I don't believe the price would be out reach. A big plus would be breakdowns would not cost us a thing with their equipment  {toast}

Fuel one way, 6 mpg at $3 a gallon would be $1260 one way to the Rubicon (Atlanta, GA to Georgetown, CA)

$2520 total for fuel divided by 4 people is $630 each in fuel to get there and back

4 rigs will fit on a 48' flatbed, right? Size is the factor. As far as weight, I wouldnt even know they were back there

Not to mention it would save a little bit in motel rooms traveling

Cost of the truck would be the deal maker/breaker. I couldnt imagine it being over $1000, but maybe

Figuring at $1000 for the truck..

the total for 4 people would be $880 each
bolt-ons suck
