That is an awesome area!  Me and three buddies hiked on Saturday from Three Forks to the Hawk Mountain shelter on the AT.  We slept through one heck of a thunderstorm in the shelter that night.  We ended our hike about .5 miles further down Hawk Mtn. at Hightower Gap.
