We met one guy who stayed in the shelter with us Sat. night.  He was from Mississippi and had never really done any hiking.  His brother dropped him off that morning at Springer Mtn. and he said he was going to try to make it to Maine! :o  We all wished him well Sunday morning and headed out.  Now I really wonder if he'll ever make it.

Never really done any hiking?! :o Not the best plan to go straight thru! Love to do a straight thru someday.

We're trying to get the entire GA section under our belts by the end of the year.  It's a small goal, but with the way life is it's a reasonable one I think.  So far we've hiked from Amicalola (including the terrible 8.8 mile approach trail to Springer mountain) to Hightower Gap.  Only about 60 more miles to go!

That's great! I plan on doing week long trips soon. Just start at springer and figure how many miles I want to hike thru the week then have my wife pick me up. 1 week at a time and then just start back where I left off. Can't wait!

a camping weekend with some mild wheeling would be fun! id love to break out the jeep and finally meet some of yall ;D
