Anybody in Metro ATL with some time to wrench tonight?
« on: February 20, 2009, 12:32:19 PM »
So I had a Daystar leveling kit land in my lap (for free, I'm not paying for 3/4" lol). Well technically the full 3/4" BB, and I don't want it to go to waste ;D.  Anywho, I don't exactly have the necessary tools to do much besides change tires and remove my sway-bar links.  So if anyone wants to lend a hand just let me know where, when, and what type of beer to bring. :P  I'm more excited about the install then the actual product since I've never done anything suspension.  {toast}

Is it just front coil spacers or front and rear? If I had the tools here we could do it but they are at the parents house

It's both. I'm trying to decide if I want to just do the front or both.  Kill the rake or have a little more clearance.  I'm leaning towards clearance.

Thanks for the offer, but I can't figure out a way to justify 2 hours there and back and then again tomorrow.

How long does a BB usually take to install..for an idiot?

Go rent spring compressors from the auto store. Should be an easy 5 minutes a spring. after you have the axle at full droop. Either on a curb, jacks, something. Then compress the springs, slide them out, insert spcers, slide spring back in.
I've grown tired of this.

Not very long for that one. Jack up the front, jack stands on the frame, remove tires and disconnect the: sways bar links, shocks and track bar from the axle only. Lower axle, pull the springs out, pull out the rubber spring isolator. The put the spacer on, spring isolator back on, springs back in and bolt everything back up.

No spring compressor needed and the process is the same front and back. Make sure you have a ratchet strap to pull the axle back over to bolt up the track bar.

So a set of sockets, wrenches, 2 jackstands, 1 floor jack and a ratchet strap.
