I have been there and it is nice if you are looking for some very mild trails.  It actually starts off as a dirt road and then turns into a trail.

There is not a lot of mud and most of the holes are very shallow.  I went with two stock trucks and neither of them had any issues.

I live in Chatsworth and have never heard of this.  Does anyone know where it's at exactly?

I'll go ride it/take some pictures and let everyone know more about it.

Only places I've heard of here is Rocky Flatts, Peeple's Lake, and The Watering Hole.

I just looked it up.

I've spent days worth up at Peeple's lake and been to every road up there until there was a private property sign or a gate blocking it.  I've never once seen a Tatum Lead sign.

If this is the same place I'm thinking about it's nothing more than a rough driveway.  Two SMALL creek crossings, couple mud holes, none of which will come up to your lug nuts, and one minor hill that's rocky.  Matter of fact that hill is in the picture of my Jeep that is my avatar.

I'll print the maps they have sometime this week and follow my way on them to signs that I know are up there just to make sure.  Maybe I missed a trail somewhere but I don't think I did.

If it is in fact the stuff I've been on then any stock vehicle will have no trouble on them even in two wheel drive.  When it rains it's a bit more fun but even then you shouldn't really need four wheel drive.

It is very pretty and scenic though, I'll give it that.

Yea that's the maps I found too {toast}.  I'm going to go ride them to make sure what I'm talking about though.  Murray County has a nice way of not marking the trails/roads right or not even marking them at all.  Gilmer County, now that county does it right.

I'm leaving to hit the trail now.

I'll be back in a couple hours with a mini report.

Here are the directions we used...

**********************
Trail begins 2.5 miles south of Tatum Lead Road and GA 52 (10 miles east of Chatsworth, .95 mile past Cohutta Lodge). Cross this 2.5 miles of private property in vehicle, and park on marked portion of trail. The trail dead-ends with no outlet
**********************

The turn off of 52 is hard to see.  There is a small gravel road (almost looks like a driveway) on the right just before 52 starts to go down the backside of the mountain.

Once you turn off of 52, you go down a private dirt road for 2.5 miles.  After you go past the gate, you have entered Tantum Lead trail..

Did you see signs that actually said Tatum Lead?

The only sign I remember seeing was a small sign on 52 that said Tantum Lead Rd...  Tantum Lead Rd is the private dirt road at the beginning of the trail.  You are allowed drive down the provate road but your vehicle must be street legal.
