Took a ride in my dream Jeep today....
« on: May 05, 2009, 10:54:44 PM »
I stopped by Off Road Evolution in Fullerton CA today.  The owner, Mel Wade, was kind enough to take me for a ride in this beast.  it rides like a Cadillac Escalade XL, no it rides better than one.  It sounds like a muscle car.  I wanted a JK UNL on 40's until I saw this.

JK Unlimited Rubicon - HEMI - Off Road Evolution Coilovers - Dynatrac 60's - 42" KM2's on 20" WE's.

Went by Currie Enterprises later and saw John, who we rode Moab Rim with in his 392 Hemi JK.  Overall, it was a good day.   ;D

Haha, yah, Mell has some of the sickest stuff out there. I'm surprised that JK doesn't have the corner armor on it.

Bring one back.  {letseat}

I installed this type of suspension when I worked at Panoz, the esparante uses a coil over set up combined with a cobra IRS in the rear similar to this but the coilovers are mounted side to side. The bellcrank attached to the axle(rear lower control arm), as the suspension moves up and down, the energy is transfered through the bellcrank, through a pivot and to the coilover. This was a very stiff set up, I think that is why they use them for road racing. Of course with a much lighter spring rate and softer shock it could be better.
