Buddy of mine is looking for an auto trans for a 1989 Cherokee 4x4. Let me know!

My brother has a rebuilt one that came out of a 92 Cherokee. Gearbox, too. PM me or call 706-936-7714.

Anybody know if it will be a direct swap. The guy I am looking for says it has to be an '89. I bet they were the same. Anybody? Jimmy? Mark? {ehm}

Should work. The AW4 was used from 87 on. They changed the output splines from 21 to 23 at some point, but I think it was around 93 or 94.

I wish I could help, if it was a YJ I could, I'm only learning the XJ stuff as I break it. But I think Jimmy is right.

Talked to my brother. He said he will let the gearbox go with the tranny for $300. The tranny was rebuilt a short time before the engine blew. He has the whole drivetrain (ex. motor). 3.55 gears.

he needs a 21 spline trans or he will have to change the tcase too.

T/case comes with it.
