Wow... old topic. Figured I would update on this little guy. Bruce is now a little over 8 months old and somewhere just north of 100 lbs. He is a handfull between his 9 cups of food a day, beating the crap out of his crate trying to escape and chewing up things that are not chew toys  {no} but overall a great pup to have. He can sit, stay, shake and well... thats about it for now. Working on more tricks but he does good with his name and coming when we call him. Here is a picture from tonight

Awww!!! He's getting HUGE. Reminds me a lot of my old great dane (sizewise). How's he like jeep rides?

Likely you already know this but his food and water bowls are up off the ground and no playing/running for at least 30 min after he eats/drinks? Just below chin level for him? If you're not familer with this (or anyone else who has big dogs), raising the food/water bowl's help prevent Bloat. With large breed dogs, they like to gulp their food down. If the dish is low, the animal is prone to gulp large amounts of air, also. Most large breed dogs have deep chests, so there's lots of room for the stomach and various organs to move around in the abdominal cavity. If the dog gets very active (playing/running/jumping) directly after eating/drinking the stomach can swing upside down (think those twisty balloon's people make creatures out of). It's extremely agonizing for them and will kill them without a $1-3k emergency surgery that can't guar. they'll still live afterwards.

His bowls are still down low for now, need to build him a stand for sure. As far as the 30 minute rule... He might be a pup but he is still a bullmastiff so he is nice and lazy and usually sleeps after a meal.

No jeep rides yet... Hope to take him on one soon. We got any nov rides planned yet?

I used to have a great dane myself, and I loved having a big dog. He was the biggest baby at ~170 pounds. The lady made several good points too!

He's a great looking dog. My best friend has a bull mastiff who's just a couple months ahead of yours, and he's awesome. Really fun to play with (if you're used to playing with big dogs and know HOW...lol).

How'd y'all come up with the name Bruce?

nice lookin bear cub you got there jerm.

i have a wood food bowl stand (about a foot high or so) that i built for one of my last labs before she went up to dog heaven. sitting at my folks' house in roswell. next time im up there i can grab it and swing it by your place if you want it. its still just bare wood but looks pretty good (my dad and i used to build some furniture). idk if the bowls will hold 9 cups tho...haha.

I love these dogs! I'm trying to talk my wife into an English Mastiff, but she's pretty hard headed at the moment and I don't think it will happen anytime soon!
