Chevy and dodge truck owner FYI

I work on transmissions for a living and I have posted this on other forums in the past.I hope this will save someone a lot of money,Ok what am i talking about for those of you with new process transfer case( 240 series) keep a very close eye on the fluid in them.reason being that there is a clip in the back case half that breaks and rubs a pin hole in it,the leak from this hole is so small but over time is will wipe out the unit(not if but when)in the last 6 months we have had 11 units come in to the shop destoryed and they are getting hard to find.If caught early there are updated pieces to address the problem and save the unit.I posted it here hoping that more guys would read it and be aware.

The 2001 Duramax I bought for the Moab trip had this problem in the beginning stages.  It had a small hole and was weeping.  The factory clips fall out of position and the inserts bangs against the magnesium housing until it rubs a hole.  The fluid runs out, and the operator never knows, until the bearings are squealing and freezing.  Fixed mine with a new half case and kit that fixes the problem.  Glad I caught it.

Thanks for the info, I need to change my t-case and diff fluids anyway.

Yea replacing the case half will fix the problem but they are kind of costly,another way is after maket fits that may be a little cheaper.Glad you caught it in time and like you said owner will never know because the leak is so small.

The aftermarket part  i was refering to is throught my parts supplier that if you need i would get it for you at cost.The other products look like they to would work,the main thing is to not wait to long,the one we have in the shop right now is a boat anchor(not a good part in it)

We have a 271 t-case now that I think about it, so I don't know if this applies to the newer Dodges.
