Apartments/Renting
« on: September 03, 2009, 08:09:26 PM »
This is just some foreshadowing and I've got questions for folks that know since I've not been alone.  I'm coming to you guys for trust/honesty, cuz hell, y'all are GATR.  Best dang thing around.

Looking for something small, 2 people and a place to park 2 Jeeps.  A lil breathing room would be nice, but something small is among more of my line of need.  A place to sleep at night and cook meals/shower more or less.  Not a "home", just a house.

What does it cost, like an average?  I know it varies from big cities, to urban areas.  I'm thinking somewhere around rome/calhoun possibly marrietta.

Where are some places I could start looking for pricing/specifics?

When I was in Flowery Branch we paid the following....

RENT: 2 Bedroom 1200 sq ft ish:   785.00
Gas:   60.00 - 120.00 (Depending on season)
Electric:    50.00 - 180.00 (Depending on season)
Water:    45.00 (City has a Minimum Charge. We used to use about 20.00 worth before they changed policies.)

Low Total: 940.00

I would look at house renting. I rented a house when I first got masrried. Little shack on a farm. House was small but I had some place to hunt, ride the 4 wheeler and work on the cars. You can find some good places if you look around. Sometimes cheaper than an apt. I HATED LIVING IN AN APT. People, all the time, no privacy. Just my 2 cents. {salute}
I've grown tired of this.

Gas/Elec= flipped on the season but usually one was like $40 and the other around $90
Water= $40-50

I lived by the Ga horse park(Keswick Village) from Sept 99 till Aug 00. Apartment living blows! I was receiving the LEO discount. I had a split plan, 2bdr, 2 bath for 639 a month. Your vehicle becomes an easy target for burglary first off. I lived on the very top floor and still heard other peoples problems around me. And just because its a gated community doesn't mean it has stellar tenants. I do say this, the more you pay the better you get as far as furnishings, appliances, cleanliness...etc. Bottom-line, again, Its all about budget. I don't condone it, but just look at it as a stepping stone towards something better the following year. Just my 2 cents. {toast}

Hahahah!! Ain't that the truth Matt! Yes, 639 for rent and now throw all the other stuff in. This is why you have to look at your long term goal. I started looking for a house 3 months into renting. Lucky enough, I knew a builder. My house note is only 70$ more than that today. Hope this helps.

Tedder I would start off renting a house. If I would have know better I would have waited till I had bills paid off and a good down payment before jumping into a mortgage. Well to late now for me so all I can do now is try and help other people before they jump to far into debts grip. {boohoo}
