Sucks to hear about, but very glad you caught it before it became a HUGE problem.  Hope everything works out with this new one.

Well, the new one is exactly what she's looking for & in our price range (Less than 5k). It has 124k miles, I6, Leather, Sunroof 2 wheel
Here's the problems for sure, both very common.
Rear Main & Axle Seal.
Out the door price is 4478.88
What do you guys think? She's not like a lot of us...She's going to want to get the RMS fixed right away.
Good deal, or wait?

Easy fixes, just time consuming.

God ain't that the truth!

Sorry to hear about all that bro, glad you caught before anything was signed!

The new one sounds a little more realistic. As was mentioned, both are fairly easy to fix, just take time and patience.

fixing a rear main seal in a 4.0L is over rated. unless you are losing a lot of oil. its just not a 4.0L if it doesnt leak some oil somewhere. I have heard stories of people changing the RMS and having it leak 2 weeks later. not something I would fuss with. pinion seal is easy.

nice buy tho!!!

axle seal wouldnt be a problem but that rear main could pose one. how bad does it leak?

Haven't gotten it yet. I'm almost to the point of only looking through independent sellers, so if someone is selling their GC, I have 5k cash, ready to deal!

It's not leaking bad, just splash-back. For the half hour I was checking it out, there wasn't a drop on the ground, but it was leaking.

I agree on buying from a individual. You can get alot better car for a lot less money. I will hopefully never deal with a dealership again.
Do Work Aka Moon Man. What you lack in technique make up in throttle! Or a set of cheater tires.
