Reduced MPG, more harsh on your fuel system, heavily subsidized by the government, and during the gas crunch the rush to Ethanol caused many farmers to stop growing feed crops and move towards crops that can be used towards Ethanol production. Which lead to increased feed prices and put many more American Farmers out of business than it helped... {salute}

most cars that have been made since the 90's can run it without problems... that is the 10% based.. now the E-85 stuff I dont know.. but I do know that in Iowa we have been running it for a long time.. as far as MPG go.. that is just wrong... you get better MPGs.. cause here I get about 12mpg and when I go home i get about 14mpg....

Not to call you out Mike, but the chemistry does not add up for better MPG with more Ethanol.

If you get a Mileage difference between here and home it is likely due to a difference in terrain.

Definitely get worse mileage with ethanol. I used to work with a guy that drove a FFV and did a lot of interstate travel for work. He ran 5 tanks of gas and 5 tanks of ethanol once to see the difference, he said the decreased mpg with e-85 and lower cost made the e-85 and the gas within tenths of a penny for cost/mile. Corn based ethanol sucks in pretty much every way: too expensive, poor gas mileage, and raises cost of practically every food we eat. Ethanol also wears rubber fuel lines out faster than pure gasoline on older vehicles produced before e-10 was popular. There are some companies making ethanol out of waste product, which is a much better idea, but its not very popular yet. Personally, I think kudzunol would be an excellent alternative fuel. No one farms kudzu so it wouldn't increase food costs, it would be so cheap it would justify crappy mpgs, and it grows so fast you could easily keep up with a large demand.

Ethanol was a good concept but its just not working out. The reason you get worse fuel mileage is that it takes more ethanol to produce the same amount of energy as a unit of gasoline. Corn based could work out if we stopped exporting so much, because then the US demand of corn wouldn't be affected.

UT is putting millions of dollars into switchgrass research but I don't know if it will work out. Switchgrass is a great source but right now, its just not feasible to produce the amount needed to supply the demand.

Personally, I think ethanol is great for having an alternate source to gasoline but it is not a long term solution. Once they can lower the cost of hydrogen production without any environmental consequences, that will be the fuel of the future.

ok so what you posted has to do with lawn mower engines.. and if you read what you posted it says that to get the better MPG and HP you would need a bigger engine.. also terrain is about the same.. maybe its the high ground.. ya know the fact that Iowa is like 1200ft above sea level... or so shit like that....

Porn doesn't make the cost of everything in your kitchen go up though. Well, unless you are into some really freaky shit. :o
