Mountainside is holding a last ride event before closing it's gates for good. The ride will be January 7-8th. This is an open ride as it is your last chance to experience one of the Southeasts best natural rock parks!
Camping is available, please note, there is no power or running water. There are porto potties there but that is all as far as amenities go. Camping spaces are limited and are on a 1st come, 1st serve basis.
There will surely be large crowds of wheelers at this event so come early and be ready for some expected backups on the trails.
This park has everything from mild trails to full out buggy trails and majority of the trails can be done or bypassed easily.
This is an open event but we will have rides based on your rig and driving experience. We will have a drivers meeting on Saturday morning at 10am SHARP. If you are late, you are on your own. We will discuss the days events and determine the groups. One will be a hard core group (+5 rated trails, damage possible etc.) and a more stock friendly group (not at risk of much damage, can still see the entire park by bypass routes.)
This park is located near Gadsden Alabama. The address I use to get there is 9971 Lay Springs Rd, Gadsden, AL. This park is not near a gas station or hotels. Closest gas station is atleast 20 minutes away. Fill up and supply up before you get there!
If you plan on making this trip and joining the hard core group, you must meet the GATR requirements...
1. Functional Parking brake or Line Lock
2. Tow strap (minimum 2"/20,000lbs, can be bought for +/- $20)
3. Jack (tall enough to change your own tires)
4. Fire extinguisher (must be secured and easily accessible; mandatory for certain ORV parks)
5. Seat belts/restraints for all passengers
6. CB with clear reception
7. Recovery hooks or D-rings front & rear.
8. Battery hold-down (OEM or after-market, bungy cords are not acceptable)
*** The properly tuned CB radio is how we communicate on the trail systems. From time to time, we can not see or hear each other and this is where our CB's come in handy.
This list is just the essentials to get you off the trail and be safe. You can add more to it as you feel necessary.
