SMITTYBILT XRC
« on: April 24, 2012, 11:22:27 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience w/ the XRC line of bumpers by smittybilt?  Or smittybilt in general. They seem reasonably priced, & I was wondering if they're junk, or if they're decently built. I know most things you get what you pay for & don't wanna buy something that gets ruined the first time on the trail.

I have been using a xrc8 for about 4 years now and it has NEVER let me down in any way. It pulls fast and hard.

I run a smittybilt on the front of mine. Its modified a little but it has been good as a front recovery point. The rear tire carriers are super noisy, but do the job they were designed for.

Just several weeks ago I purchased the rear bumper and tire swing.
I was really suprised at how sturdy it was. The bumper it self feels like
a solid piece of steel. Easy install. I really like and recommend it.
It does set the spare up about a foot higher than the stock mount.

We've sold a ton of their products and rarely have any complaints!

I don't have experience with their bumpers but I did run a XRC-8 winch on my TJ and it worked perfectly every time I used it.

I really like the look of their stinger front bumper

Just because somebody calls something junk, does not mean it is. I think some guys get way too hung up on the name. Like Warn, they make good stuff, but I can buy an xrc8 way cheaper than any 8000lb they sell. It goes with everything, you pay for the name when majority of the products are the same quality. The price is right on their stuff and I have never used any of their stuff, but I have seen a few on here using them and liking them. Heck, I am runnin rugged ridge sliders and I would get laughed at on pirate if I posted that... who cares, they work! {salute}
I've grown tired of this.

There are a couple of manufacturers I found that are reasonably priced, and their stuff is made in USA.  Check out OR-FAB and ACE Engineering.

I run the OR-FAB bumpers and have been very happy.  ACE has a lot of good stuff out these days, too...

I have the XRC8 Comp winch and it has never let me down. I have made some hard pulls with that winch without an issue. I am sure at 1 time SmittyBuilt probably did put out some bad products. I mean you don't get bad rep from nothing but here lately you don't hear much negative about their actual products.
