could you still buy a factory extended warranty on the Duramax?  Of all the times where it could make sense, its on a vehicle like this.  Could be a good compromise... and it would likely protect the luxury electronic items, too whereas the Ram 100k mile warranty is only powertrain.

Seems like the Duramax would be the better way to go.

Not sure how long you're planning on keeping this truck but if it's long enough to buy an extended warranty and 100k... I know it's different strokes for different folks but man I'd buy the new truck and start things clean.  I'd also find $5k and upgrade to the SLT with the big touch screen, climate control, heated seats, and remote start. What's that like $50-60/mo? With these cold mornings coming, your butt will thank you.
And don't forget the heated steering wheel. I would agree if it's a long term play, what's another $5k?  That's one night out in Vegas at Crazy Horse III.

Other than this is torture... No.

Trying to decide if I'm going Duramax with some miles and luxury or Ram new with full warranty but somewhat basic.

No brainer...D'Max

I recall that Doug's plopping down a stack of benjamins for this thing... which is awesome.  Finding a larger stack may not be in the cards.  This is how i wound up with my barebones LT gasser... had a cash budget.  And within 3 years i'd traded it for a new truck!  Don't be me, Doug!

remembering that the reason we like our
diesels is for the durability etc so starting
with a diesel with milage is not the same as
starting with a gasser with milage... IMOP

I think Don's (single guy) and Doug's (family) perspective on what's valuable in a truck will differ quite a bit.  I, as a cheapskate who doesn't drive mine much, is a LOT different than both.   //OLDSKOOL//

40k on a 2015, do it's out of the bumper to bumper warranty.  Only internal lubricated parts are covered to 100k.

Don, in also looking at the SLT with most all that.

Not buying a payment.
