really gotta watch with those 5 lug 7k lb trailers guys, the dang trailer alone 'dry' weighs 2500, that means you only have 4500lbs capacity, all those JKs are wayyyyy over that stock.. much less with 37s and armor, and tools and spares mounted on the trailer... just sayin something to think about
That is not correct, not all of that weight is on the axles as part of the weight is on the tow vehicle. Not sure how it is calculated though.

A 7000 pound trailer is for 7,000 pounds less the weight of the trailer. Tongue weight is not subtracted.
So you're saying my 14,000 lbs gooseneck is only good for 12,000 lbs?

I doubt your gooseneck trailer weighs 2k.  But you are understanding what he us stating.

No, my trailer has 7k axles, it weighs 6k, put 8k on it for a total of 14k, then put it on the scale and it shows 12k.

Ok...got it.  That link I posted leaves it hazy, at best.  I have always treated it like Tony stated, but you seem in the clear either way.

You may very well be able to get credit for tongue weight on a goose neck. Interesting. Never thought about it that way.

We did when we weighed the 2 jks on the double.  The axles alone were 13,800 and we know there was a lot of weight on the truck.

Tag should only be a few hundred pounds so not like a goose that carries a substantial % of the weight. .
