Geesh Delta. 6 hours late leaving ATL. Waiting on a flight crew to land to fly us to LA.  They are on the ground, boarded, flight crew arrives, times out for the day, can't fly, unboard, wait, New crew coming, board, they arrive, have to check everything, computer problems, manual tool call all persons on plane, unruly passenger, police remove with federal charges, now so late waiting on connecting flights to land, finally we go, sudden rapid descent, pilot on, no room for us at LAX, diverting to Vegas, land, medical taken off of plane, sitting on plane at gate, Delta telling us nothing so far. My Tuesday is toast.

Landed in LA, on the tarmac since 450 waiting on a gate, now 530. Have an hour's drive of I ever get out of this plane and airport, conference call at 7pst, might have time to get a nap.

Yep headed to the hotel, traffic should not be a problem but still an hours drive.

You were too far back then and needed to position yourself in line better.

Well you have a national news headline reason for not being on time....

How would you like to be the CIO at Delta.  Holy shit.  Not only did you have a power outage without backup or generator power, where the hell was your backup data center and DR plan.

Yea, im on our DR board.  we had a building power out for some construction they are doing close by a while back.   we have a hot site and a full DR off site.  within about 5 min, most of IT was on notebooks on the hotsite.  only issue was about 1 min, outside firewall site rest... no lost work, brokers/underwriters were doing business as normal for like 3hr.,, and no one knew we had an outage.   we do a dr test 3 times a year and our auditors audit , we even have done consulting to other companys on how we handle it.   

its like, insurance..  no one wants it until they need it.   but it will happen .. one day..  can your company survive the aftermath..   if it fails.

If someone doesn't fly Delta much and is Zone 8 or whatever I can see this happening. It's a complete CF when each zone is called as people jockey for position.

If someone doesn't fly Delta much and is Zone 8 or whatever I can see this happening. It's a complete CF when each zone is called as people jockey for position.

Pretty sure its

-Premium (1st class & Diamond Medallion) (Doug)
-Sky (All other Medallion levels except Silver) (Me)
-Zone 1 (& Silver Medallion) (Super easy to get)
-Zone 2 (Tripp)

Is there a Zone 3?  I didn't think there were any others.  For bags you want to be in Zone 1 or higher.  Silver gives you automatic Zone 1 and is super easy to get. If not in Sky, just line up to be first in Zone 1 and there is no problem at all.

I will say the CF is the foreign folks who don't pay any attention to what zone is called and try to walk in whenever they feel like it.


Now Southwest is the boondoggle.  I pay for early bird and get B1.  That's bullshit.

The CF is all of those less than Premium zone 'people' lining up and blocking the gate entrance.
