Nope, Matt...I am planning to go Friday and may jet Saturday after riding...depends on if I end up camping or staying in a hotel (which depends on the temperature!).
Clark...yep, I am planning to wheel Friday. Gotta use that roll-over time off from last year. Gonna make it a long weekend!
Can't wait to try out the long arms and shouldn't
be denting a front fender or ripping on a plastic
flare anymore..... //;D//
Ben I will clean the 2.2 shocks and get some real
dimension's for you this week if you want..
I will be ready for this one. And to double check is that 9 am GA or Al time?

I wouldn't be able to leave Atlanta until noon on the 7th. Easy to meet up with everyone via radio later in the day? Or even Saturday morning?
I'll be camping through Sunday. Last year it got to the mid 20's so if your camping... Be prepped because it might be chilly. Small, non vented tents are your friend as well as a descent sleeping bag.
lol we had GATR ICE JAM there a few years ago...
I believe it went down to 14...
will have to look for the pictures.
There was so much ice that it cut some tires. WILL?
Agreed

Suggestion needed.
Come up Friday evening and camp, ride sat, leave sat evening.
OR....
Come up early sat am and camp sat night, leave early Sunday.
What say you? //:hlp//
Trying to make this work and wondering which would be a better option.
Thanks!
Suggestion needed.I would say come up Sat AM if you're close enough, cuz there will definitely be more campfire activity Sat night than Fri night. Although I think I may bail after riding Saturday...depends on how I feel at the end of the ride, and if I camp...may stay in hotel. Weather looks good ( 32/58 ), based on average highs and lows, though, so hopefully camping.

I'm at the Hilton garden inn in Oxford. There are cheaper ones...but I'm not going to start a fight over 3t extra bucks.
So I'm checking out the youtubes of Morris Mountain, like ya do, and it seems like many just take bad lines and make stuff look more difficult than it is. I'm pretty new to the sport but I feel like I learned a good bit in Moab. Like in this video, it seems his spotter is just giving him bad lines — any thoughts from the seasoned members here? Just opening up discussions on the topic as I plan on bringing my two-year old to this ride and want to play it safe.
Danny, does Heisenberg have heat?
Danny, does Heisenberg have heat?
Haha, yes & heated seats //cheers2// Now if I can get the damn Bestop soft doors to actually latch we'll be in business.
This will be a great ride for you, but keep in mind wheeling in the SE is 10x harder than Moab. That's what I was starting to think. Makes me curious what trails you guys do in Moab. Still trying to make it out there again with the club but I wouldn't be able to leave town until the 25th.

Hello,
I was wondering if the trail riding was on Sat and Sun or just Saturday thanks

That's not a good video to watch for Morris Mountain. That particle obstacle has three sections; good, bad and Ugly. He was in the middle section of bad with a crap spotter and open an open front. We'll hit that and have some fun, lots if fun safe lines to play on. Ben can show you his special line on Ugly.
One of the best things about this park is that there are plenty of bypasses. It's a great park to wheel.
Same club and painful to watch, but like a car accident about to happen, I couldn't turn away! />
Matt, got to prioritize car parts... Sub getting lowered over shocks this time. //OLDSKOOL//

Wish I could make it this year but one of if not both my jeeps will be under the knife. Hope you all have a great time. I will be living vicariously through you all.

Ghost Dog LOL ... how that big white dog stayed clean in that mess is beyond me. A year later I bet I still have mud from that trip. I hope it stays dry this year. Sorry you can't make it, I'll say hello to Ghost Dog for you. //;D//
I'm going to try and make this ride! I've never been to MM so it should be fun.

You will like it Justin...I've only been once and can't wait to go again
deff going to try to make this one, sounds like a cool park in the right weather.
Thinking about camping, how is camping there? Is it like gulches, do we need to reserve camp spots or what not?
I don't think its worth towing, its only 90 miles from ATL.

Here is the camping area (will be much less crowded on our weekend, this was probably an event weekend)

There is also room to put 3 or 4 tents right up near the bathrooms, there is nice flat spot with a fire ring.
sweet! This place looks awesome. Fingers crossed for good weather. Ill prb roll in early sat setup camp before the drivers meeting. Cant wait to see everyone! Ill be sure to bring enough beer for everyone! //BEER//

I have a lot to do... I forgot it was this coming up weekend.
I'll be pushing my luck, but I think it is doable. My motor mounts were supposed to be here yesterday, so naturally they didn't show up.
Excited about being at an actual offroad park. The holidays always give us a nice break in our wheeling schedule, but I'm ready to hit it again!

Yes there are several trails you will enjoy + there are bypasses for the difficult stuff. This place is great even if you just come out to camp, hang out with everyone, and do some light trail riding.
A lot of obstacles at MM need wheel speed rather than low gearing. Back up and BREAK it.

naw. i can do hard stuff.. did it before, i just am not wanting to push anything. if you have never been on 35's with 3.21 gears, you wont understand. its like im going up stuff in 4th gear and everyone else is in 1st. with the speed comes issues... bouncing around, i have to work 10times harder to stay slow.. even with feathering and clutch work, its hard. Wes understands he has a standard., and has been in my rig. this will be my last trip till i get the regearing done. got to much stuff going on wont get to be back on trails till after April. my daughter is graduating from college (Nurseing) and i got to head to OK end of april to deal with all that crap.

I would drink better beer out there but i don't really want to wake up with a horrible hangover! I don't drink that often so my tolerance has suffered. I will have plenty of beer at MM. I cant wait for this trip!!!
Off topic question real quick -
What is the drink of choice to not get headaches - high end beer, liqueur, Cheap beer ??. Lately it seems if I have 3 or 4 beers I get a headache immediately & I don't get the slightest buzz //WTF//
All I have to say is we ALL better start the warm weather DRY condition dancing and chants

It could be GATR-Claus all over again. A great time, but dirty...with a bunch of people scared away by a bit of dirt. :)
Unless the weather improves drastically (friday and saturday night is 100% chance of rain), I am going to drop on this trip. Morris is not the kind of park that is fun during/after a solid rain storm. We were there last year after it rained and it was spotty. Hope i am wrong!
Let's hope it changes but agree. As much as I love Morris and as much as I'm ready to ride it's not a place conducive to a full weekend of rain. That goes for wheeling and camping.//agree//

Chocco is near buy and doesnt hold water like mm. Different ground so its not full of clay. Just an option.Yeah it's just another couple minutes down the road. It's not nearly as bad, but there are some rough spots when wet. Y'all know I like Chocco lol

I'm pretty good about being fueled and ready to roll at the designated time so don't worry...I'm not going to screw around there for 20 mins and make you wait.

I'm dropping my Jeep off at the dealership to get the rear main seal leak fixed. They are saying it should be good to go by tomorrow afternoon and then I just need to fill up and bleed the power steering system to see if that solves my issues. One question though for those who are bringing wives/family- do any of them ever just stay back at camp while you are out wheeling? The reason I ask is that my wife is preggers and the Doc told her no more off roading due to the bouncing. I'm trying to sell her on going still, but I don't want her sitting around bored.

OFF TOPIC:
When I had slow drains at my old house, they used the optics camera to inspect it...and of course there were tons of roots in the system, but nothing was done to them (turned out to be a blocked vent causing the slow drains). My old house did not have a basement.
My current house has a basement and I have not had anything done to my septic tanks since I moved in, 8 years ago. What exactly (or generically) happens to the septic system with hardwoods that causes the basement to get nasty?
You started it lolI know! Didn't want the thread to get to Junkie. LOL!

Depending on how far along she is, she may want to ask her OB. They were horrified when she told them she went offroad with me this past weekend. She is 18 weeks along, so I am going to have to figure out how to start sneaking out of the house to go offroading //;D//

See if you can get a plumber to come out and run a camera down the sewer line if there are lots of hardwood trees near it.

I've been traveling like crazy for work and haven't been home much in the last 2 weeks and my wife is looking for family time. I am doing some heavy negotiating this evening to see if I can get there for Friday afternoon and Sat for a half day. Wish me luck!!

Ran into a problem tonight. I have a key for one lugnut but per wheel. The key has gone missing. As my DD I have A/Ts. For outings I switch to M/Ts. Anyone know how to remove the special nut but without the key? I don't care about the nuts as the set came with the jeep and I have spare lugs.
Me and a buddy of mine with a white cj will be there probably around 930 am cst tomorrow. Got done installing my new winch about 30 minutes ago.

I assumed from the pics that Wes' ball joints blew out and took the axle shaft with them. If the knuckle and outer C survived than that was a big plus for the repair job. A lesson to be learned is to check ball joints periodically: http://www.wikihow.com/Check-Ball-Joints
If one ball joint breaks then the other will almost certainly go in another split second.
And don't go cheap when getting new ball joints. Get the best you can afford.

What is the absolute best available brand? Some money is no object.

I think it was the other way around. U joint went, the axle ears spun on each other, and took out the upper ball joint and then the lower joint failed under the pressure.
Repair crew FTW

Well, actually it was the "Watch Wes do something he has never done before and give him three different opinions about what to do...at the same time...crew." In the professional world we would be called matrix managers.
Well it's official, and I hold everyone who was at Morris Mtn responsible.
