Title: Chrysler Mechanics
Post by: hb_hound on January 16, 2013, 09:45:40 AM
Need some help
Wife's '07 Aspen failed emissions
Codes
P0455 – Evap Emission Control, Sys Leak
P0456 – Mfg Specific
P0406 – Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor
Gas cap – Passed

Are these dealer only repairs, as I was told, or can I make the repairs at home?

No clue on 456 but 455 could be something obvious like a bad hose or connection. I got a similar code on my old civic and after re-clamping all hoses on the canister and engine, unplugging and cleaning the sensor plug and putting it back on, buying a new gas cap because the old 1 was shot, the light never came back. But it could be a pin hole leak somewhere and you would need to do some kind of smoke/die test. 406, if you can find what sensor and where then you could clean, inspect, and replace if needed.

Is it 2wd or 4wd?
4.7 or 5.7?

Po455 and Po456 are evap leaks. We have a smoke machine here and can test to find out where its coming from.

Po4o6 is a common issue with dodges. Are you getting a knocking or pinging from the motor ? P0401 to P0406 is EGR related. It does not necessarily mean the sensor is bad, it could be a bad valve. Something I would have to look at to get a better answer on.

Let me know Manny.

Sounds like the linkage is binding. Do you have a body lift? Big dent in the belly pan?
