Have you thought about getting rid of the gas tank and putting a fuel cell in the storage compartment area? You could do it for about the same amount of money as that skidplate and just open the entire space up underneath the rear

and it ends up being a great place to get hung on too.

all the skid plates on my tacoma are custom made including the sliders. if you have any fab skills of your own and a welder you can make all the stuff yourself for less than half the cost of buying something aftermarket plus get it exactly the way you want. i am sure you could sucker a friend into helping you with beer which is what i always do.
