Yeah, I don't see the point in washing a offroad toy. It's just going to get dirty again.

I've never washed my XJ in the 3 years that I've owned it. The hood is red but starting to turn black.  I think it may be time.

I took it to Von Schlick's shop for a SYE & he said they had to pressure wash the bottom for a hour just to be able to work on it. I had been at Black Moose a few weekends prior.

This would make an awesome overland rig:

I'm weird, I'll wash and wax stuff. A few years back after a wheeling trip it snowed the next day but I was still outside washing. Water was freezing to the jeep making it harder to wash.

I still think a striped sport JKU for say 30k
Then add the mopar 60s for 11k
Wheels, tires and suspension and be done.
50k on the high side.

Won't have leather power windows or any of that fluff stuff, but I think that's ok for the application.  I did like my remote start though.

Ok, that's what's in my head if I move back to a JKU for moderate usage.

I like to keep my vehicles clean (off road or not).  It's just the way I'm wired.  For the jeep, I find it really helpful to pressure wash underneath after each trip to clearly see any damage, etc.  Plus it annoys my neighbors on most Sundays, so that's just a bonus.

I've done the sprinkler thing for the trips that mud was unavoidable.

I also love when people spend money on toys, but I agree with some of the above comments. IMO, the difference in price between new sports and rubicons is too big to justify getting a Rubi. (At least it was in 2011 when I bought mine)  You can do quite a bit of mods with the difference in cost and have a much more capable jeep.

I don't know what the JKs go for but a first edition release should be pretty cheap if you are looking to just tool around. You don't need all the bells and whistles either. Keep it simple and cheap.

I am still angry at one of my Louisiana friends that traded his JKUR in at a dealer.

Prepare to be very annoyed.... I would have purchased in cash instantly had I known before

2007 JKU
Rubicon
Mild lift, 35s
Bumpers
120k miles

...wait for it...

I didn't have the heart to show him the dealer ad for it. They had it listed for $23k
