Yes that is a feature, they are harsh but super light and they give me more a lot more room than hard finished doors, almost like no doors.  I didn't add the hinge costs. I would add some type of rubber gasket around them.

I thought the rugged ridge lowers had gaskets but they are plastic aren't they.

To be fair, and to run a subject into the mud ground, Don has more reason to care about a gasket around a door than most other people (the irony is unreal).  Oh Harlan, the gift that keeps on giving.

I have savvy doors that I use on the green jeep. Work great. Care less about panals.

I was waiting for that
I felt like crap for doing it, not because it brings up a painful part of your past, but because it was so obvious.

Undercover Fab in Dothan has a nice set of half doors for $382 a set. But the do not have seals either. http://www.undercoverfab.com/trail-doors/509-ucf-jeep-tj-aluminum-trail-doors.html

No uppers fit with those at all so I have absolutely no use for them if I can't put an upper on them for inclemate weather and towing

Ignorance here...is there a standard for the JKU uppers to mount to the lowers, or is it vendor by vendor?

That's too bad. You would think they would make them compatible with the best top uppers but there may be legal reasons. Even though, if the joining section is similar, tabs could be added so that the uppers could be used.
