High lift jack questions
« on: April 22, 2014, 08:43:24 AM »
Looking at getting a high lift jack.Original  Hi Lift $80+, tractor supply "farm Jack" $60, harbor freight high lift jack $50.
Ruled out HF, is the TRC worth getting or should I spend another $30 and get the "real" HI Lift jack?
I have several projects going on and the $30 here and there add up quick!
Thanks

Well, I think I just answered my own question. Found a HI lift brand on eBay ( brand new) $73, free shipping . I think I'll go that route for piece of mind

What size vehicle do you have?  What is your intended use of the hi-lift (looks, tire change, winch, etc)?

Chevy k1500, tire changing, looks, pulling stumps.  New to four wheeling , so I'm not sure what all I could use for.  I don't wa t it to break after first use.

Most of the time, a small bottle jack is sufficient, and safer, for most activities, but bottle jacks do not look good and don't pull stumps.  :)

Hmmm, may need to rethink this.  I guess on the one occasion that you have a flat while in a mud hole and can't get out is when you would need a high lift jack.  I have other things I can spend the money on.

Remember our trip to Golden Mtn?
We had to use a Hi-Lift jack to bust the bead
on 2 different rigs that had cut a valve stem....

I recall Golden and I recall one being used with Blue Wes at Morris.

I acquired a tool for replacing valve stems, without having to break the bead.  (It is lost in the basement, but I'll find it before this weekend) :)

I will continue to hope I do not need to use one.  I consider them to be very dangerous.  I do hope there is one near me if I ever need one!
