Opinions on this one (comes with a free cover):

2 year warranty on electrical is a plus as is synthetic rope.

I have seen a ton of people pull with the Smittybuilt XRC's and I've never seen one fail. I had one on my TJ and it worked perfectly

That price for the 9.5 and syn  line is damn hard to beat

The Smittybuilt looks pretty good to me. I have to figure out how to get it without the wife knowing I dropped $400+ on a winch...

Get stuck with her in the jeep,  then say " if I only had a winch"
Worth a try anyway!  Ha ha
Get dirty, or get off the trail!

Haha that would work
Most LCOG Builds are like a fat girl in Yoga Pants, just cause it fits doesn't mean it works...

Getting her to ride with me would be more of a chore than just going ahead and getting the winch and asking for forgiveness later...

Alright, not sure exactly how soon I will pull the trigger on the purchase of a winch but I believe I am going to go with the Smittybilt XRC 9.5 GEN 2. Still debating steel line or synthetic. Price is the deciding factor on that.

Reasons for deciding on the Smittybilt XRC 9.5 GEN 2:
Lifetime mechanical warranty
2 Year electrical warranty
Waterproof up to 1 meter (3 feet) if I understand the IP67 rating correctly
Free winch cover with purchase
Price for what you get

My smitty has been great. I went with the X20. I do wish very much that I had synthetic and will be switching it out soon.  My only other complaint is that it's a little on the slow side.

I have not heard anything bad about them so far. I don't feel I can go wrong with it.
